Please help around 35,000 people who are grasping to deal with the unexpected damage done by Typhoon Sendong (Typhoon Washi = International name). Death toll is currently at 652 and rising, with 808 reported missing. Many bodies are still unclaimed and some believe that entire families have died. Among the missing, is the grandmother of my dear friend.

Typhoon Washi hit Mindanao on Dec 17. The hardest hit regions are Cagayan De Oro, Iligan and Bukidnon. Experts say that over a month of average rain fall poured down in 12 hours. This resulted in landslides and flash floods.

It comes at such a horrible time, right before Christmas, which is one of the biggest holiday seasons and seriously celebrated by the majority of Filipinos. I do not celebrate Christmas, but I hope that those who do can appreciate how horrible and sad the kids must be, on top of losing everything.

We do not have to be rich to help. Every single bit counts. Donating what you would’ve a single small treat for yourself, like chocolate, goes a long way. If you really cannot spare a cent, spreading the news to others also helps a lot.
