Bring Back Low Priority Penalties Please

Valve’s recent 19 April 2013 update to Dota 2 has changed the system, so that abusive players (text or audio) will be automatically muted but not placed in the low priority MM pool. I do not think it is fair to automatically punish regular players by sticking them with automatically muted people. Communication is such an important factor in Dota 2, so being stuck with someone who can’t talk or type will affect my games. No, I do not think [...]

  • Co-Op Bot Games Have BP and Item Drops

Co-Op Bot Games Have BP and Item Drops

It is possible to earn battle points and items from playing against bots! We just need to be playing in the right mode. I thought I’d mention this and show you which one because some people asked about this yesterday. Make sure that it is a “Co-Op Bot Match” under “Matchmaking”, NOT “Private Games”. This is highlighted in the picture below. 1. 4 human teammates + you Even if you are playing alone or in a party, it will match [...]

  • What to do with 200+ms in Dota 2

What to do with 200+ms in Dota 2

With the recent Dota 2 SEA server maintenance that started today, tons of people have said “what am I going to do” on my Facebook page. So, I’ve come up with a few things you can do. XD Feel free to pitch in. (Props to you if you spot my silly typo! LOL) FYI, I often face high ping when playing. To SEA, I normally get 90+.  To US West, 230+. To US East/EU West, 330+. Sometimes more. The good [...]

Dota 2 SEA Server Maintenance (April 15+)

Good news: More servers are being added for the SEA region, in Singapore. In theory, this will improve latency. Bad news: While this is being done, you can experience increased delay. Estimated time for finishing optimisation is April 26. Check out my suggestions what to do if you’re experiencing over 200ms in my recent post. When I tried in a bot game, I had 45ms instead of the normal 90ms to SEA from Hong Kong. But, I have been hearing [...]

  • Tapping into the “Luxury” Market for Dota 2

Tapping into the “Luxury” Market for Dota 2

Most people’s gut reaction to seeing a USD 34.99 item in the Dota 2 store is “What? For ONE Item?” I had the same initial reaction. I suspect that many of my followers did too. Especially the huge chunk of awesome people in the Philippines, where USD34.99 is 20% of the average monthly income there. But, I believe that Valve has taken the right step forward with this move. Disagree? Then, hear me out. Better price stability for buyers By [...]

  • My collection!

    My Diretide Mission

For those who don’t know what Diretide is, it is a special event in Dota 2 that ends on Nov 12. Dota Cinema has a complete guide on it, though some things have changed (i.e. you can add unusuals to Dreaded Eggs). My goal is to get all eggs, each with three unusual essences! My all time favourite items in Dota 2 are my couriers. I have always been a support played and love it, but Valve certainly is making [...]

  • Where to Get a Dota 2 Beta Key – October 2012

Where to Get a Dota 2 Beta Key – October 2012

Dota 2 is a free-to-play action RTS game now in closed beta. You need a beta key to activate the account on Steam. Basically, it is the original DotA being made as a standalone game. There are 90 completed heroes, with 18 more to go before all of the heroes are added in. Keys are much easier to get these days, but I still see people looking for them. Because they are readily available, I have stopped giving beta keys, [...]

  • 2012 International Roster Poster Winner 1

2012 International Roster Poster Winner 1

Thank you for all of the entries. I had so much fun reading them. It was great to see how much members of the community are loved and remembered, especially memorable statements by analysts and casters. One stood out the moment I read it. I did continue to read on to find something even more amusing, but this one topped the lot (at least for me). While most of the posts were based on personal preferences or hero skills, this one [...]
